Had to share a pic of these beautiful HEALTHY muffins! I found these in a new recipe book and they are de-licious! They are a substitute for a peanut butter & jelly sandwich! This is the second time I have made them and Jackson loves them! Of course, Sidney is not to fond of them. She is my picky one! Anyway, I make a batch and freeze them and each morning or evening I put one in Jackson's lunch and it is perfect in time for him to eat! Makes lunches easy too!

I watch Cupcake Wars on Food Network and I don't think I could make something out of surprise ingredients in such a short period of time! What they do on that show seems next to impossible in the amount of time they have to do it.

One of the hardest things I find in life is the ability to not let "people" influence my attitude. I have struggled with this for a LONG time, but more so in the last 4 or so years. I think I have "struggled" with it more during these last four years because God has asked me to take a closer look at why I do this? I know it is so silly to let anyone have such a stronghold on me! God let's me know through His Word so often that I still have not been able to "cast all my cares upon Him." I'm thankful He still reminds me so gently and keeps me coming back to His Word (His Son) again and again. Praise You Lord! I love You so much! ((((((HUGS))))))

I am going to join Beth Moore of Living Proof Ministries in memorizing 24 scriptures this 2011! Check out her blog listed to the right if you'd like to join me! It's not too late! If Jackson and Sidney can remember several verses each week for AWANA, I can do this! She just asks that you choose a verse that means something to you in your present season or circumstance.

My first verse:

"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galations 2:20 ESV

This verse speaks to me because it reminds me that God loved me enough to give His Son, in the most treacherous death, for me to have eternal life with Him in heaven. Sometimes I can't fathom why God would do such a thing for me! Me, a human smaller than a mere grain of sand in all the sands of the earth within this great universe! Lord, let me not forget it is not impossible for You to know ME personally, my inmost being and thoughts. That is amazing! Thank you for loving me that much!

Blessings to all my family and friends! May you find peace in Christ this new year and all the days of your life. Pastor Bruce reminded our congregation today that God wants us to walk with Him in spite of our circumstances.

The Lord Provides

It's been a busy week! Worked Tuesday and had bible study with my sweet friends at Starbucks! Peppermint Mocha was awesome, even if I did have to scrounge for change! I usually never have cash and use a check card for everything but this night I was determined not to break into my tithe for the wonderful blessings which God has given me! I'm not saying it's hard for me to tithe, but I've been used to Scott just writing the checks each month for him and I both. I have been keeping my cash earnings from my business to the side so that we can use it for Christmas and probably deposit some to help out with taxes... yuck! When I do have cash it's too hard sometimes not to spend it, so Scott is my personal banker, LOL! Anyway, it is definitely a priority in our household to give to our church. The bible says, "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." I believe His word and we have truly been blessed. It is amazing to see God work. I know tithing may be a challenge for some, but you have to trust in God and "step out of the boat". He will provide.

Speaking of "He will provide"... I did some volunteer work at FBC Denton Friday with some co-workers. They have what is called "Elves' Shelves". Their church donates tons of toys for families requesting assitance with Christmas expenses. They truly shared the love of Jesus with so many families from all around Denton and surrounding cities this weekend. It just makes my heart ache that there are so many who are not as fortunate as I. However, sharing in this experience was so uplifting. Seeing the excitement on faces, helping them to decide what their children might like, and wishing them a Merry Christmas and giving them a hug as they left the church was so awesome. I had a lump in my throat a few times! Thank you Lord!

Wow, this post started out with wanting to talk about what a busy week I had, but has turned into something totally different. I guess I will change the title from "busy week", no..."tithing"... no..."The Lord Provides." In all situations, He will provide. If you are enjoying the blessings of a new business, if you are trying to go for it and try tithing 10% instead of giving half-heartedly every once in a while, or if you are just trying to make ends meet, THE LORD PROVIDES!

We had a very blessed Thanksgiving with our family! My side of the family came to our house for Thanksgiving day. There were 21 of us here. We were short a few and missed them!! : ) We played games and watched the Cowboy game. The kids stayed the night with my parents and Scott and I hit Wal-Mart at midnight for some deals. We also went and saw Harry Potter. It was pretty good. I actually screamed out loud for one part of it. I asked Scott if I was the only one that about flew out of my seat! LOL!

Today Scott's mom and brother's family had another Thanksgiving dinner here. We had a lot of fun watching Tim Hawkins' videos! Gran also bought the kids a gingerbread house and they put that together. It turned out really cute.

Just had my first face painting party this morning! It was so much fun!! The kids really enjoyed it and were very excited with the results! I met some super parents and saw some that I know! Everyone was very encouraging and complimentary of my work. I even talked to another mother about possibly scheduling a party for her daughter in a couple of weeks! Hope to book another party soon! Can you tell I'm a little excited about this?! I also got my new business cards in yesterday just in time for this party! The Lord has and continues to bless me!

Candy Apples Business

Well, it's day 10 for my apple making business and I have made 105 apples!! I can't believe it has taken off like it has. I've had a lot of fun decorating the apples and wrapping them up real pretty for my customers! Many thanks to those who have purchased some! My largest order, 24, came in yesterday and will be picked up this evening! Out of the 105 apples I have sold 83 and given away 22 which had been a good source of advertisement. God had truly blessed me and I am so thankful for how everything has gone!

I had a parent from KDO ask me about face painting for their daughter's birthday today! I think that would be so much fun! Of course now I need to research fees involved and decide what a good price would be. I really enjoy face painting and have been doing it for the past several years at KDO and our church's Light the Night Festival. We have to move quickly at these events though, so I usually end up doing small drawings such as pumpkins, cats, unicorns, butterflies, snakes, etc... At this party I would actually get to paint their entire face! I think I need to plan my own face painting party so I can paint some faces and come up with my own portfolio and add face painting to my repertoire!

Are you having a flashback to the 80's?

I used to wear these when I was a young girl growing up in the eighties. My cousins and I had them in our school colors. I recently ran across them in "Family Fun" magazine and I just had to start making them for my daughter.

If you would like to purchase these barrettes you can order them in your school colors to show school spirit, holiday colors for halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas etc... I can make just about any color combination.

The ribbon tails average about 6-8 inches in length from the end of the barrette (I can shorten or lengthen). Leave a comment if you are interested. They are $3 each.

10 Year Anniversary

Scott and I shared our 10-year anniversary this past Thursday, October 14th. I'm just as in love with him today as when I married him, if not more! The night before our anniversary I couldn't sleep because i was so excited! Something about that "10 year" milestone I guess! We went to dinner in Ft. Worth at Fred's Cafe, a diner featured on Food Network recently. It wasn't anything fancy, but we had a great time! Scott got me a beautiful boquet of flowers (see top of blog page)! I love to arrange flowers so he brought them to me wrapped up in tissue paper so that I could make them look extra special!

Gran's Art Show

We attended Barbara's art show this past month. We went down late Thursday evening and help set up a little bit. The show was Saturday night and there was quite a turnout! It's always fun to go and see what they've been up to for the past year in art classes! We got to visit friends and some family, including Scott's great-grandmother at her care home. Sidney & Jackson outside of the Community Center where the art show was held: Our little harpist: Sidney learned to play Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star very quickly! Everyone was impressed with The Artst's granddaughter!

New Camera

We finally got a new camera this Christmas!! It is a Nikon D90. I wanted it last year, but Scott, being the "researcher" he is needed more time to look around and find a great deal! I think part of it had to do with the fact that he was in no big hurry, either, unlike me who tends to make hasty decisions. My dad had a Nikon 35mm camera in which the lenses fit the new camera we purchased! He was very generous to give us those lenses, so that helped a great deal with the expense. We only had to purchase the camera body. Anyway, I'm enjoying it and hoping to learn more about it as time goes by. It's one of those "fancy" cameras, so there is a lot I don't know! Here are some pictures I have take with the camera. Some I have edited, another hobby I really enjoy.

New Room

We had a "bad weather day" today. Supposedly bad enough to close Denton schools for the whole day. Others in the area opened at 10:00. So... we cleaned and re-arranged Sidney's room today. Her and I cleaned this morning and moved all the stuff out so that Daddy & Papaw could re-arrange her furniture today after Daddy got home. She could not stop saying how this was the "best day in her WHOLE life!!!" She is so funny! The littlest things make her happy. Her room is now organized, for a little while, at least to her and my specifications. Grandy probably wouldn't agree on the organized part. Ha! ha! Thank you Papaw for helping us get organized and for the special surprise with supper this evening: an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie mixed and baked by Grandy BUT shaped in their first initial by Papaw.

Tomorrow Sidney is celebrating her birthday (one week early) with her friend Britney at the American Girl Bistro. She is so excited! Britney is also staying the night so that is even more exciting to her. She has only had one other friend, besides cousins, stay the night before. My friend Erin made a dress for Sidney and her doll to match that I am going to give to her tomorrow before we leave. I can't wait to see them all "dolled" up! I even made a matching necklace for Sidney and Isabella (the doll) to wear. I just know people are going to look a the two of them and wonder where they got those GREAT dresses! Thanks so much Erin! I also put together a little goodie bag for each of the girls to have after we get home tomorrow night. It has a little candy necklace for them to string up themselves, hair accessories for their dolls, etc... Should be a fun and memorable time for them.

VBS, Lifetime Fun, and Taylor's Birthday

It has been a very busy week for us! We've been going to VBS each evening. The theme this year was Operation Space, A Close Encounter with God's Word. The kid's went through "BASIC" Training:

We had a lot of fun! Scott helped lead the pre-schoolers in the outside game time and I helped lead the pre-school arts & crafts. This is Jackson's last year as a pre-schooler! Sidney had a blast with her group led by Ms. Melinda & Ms. Martha! She also enjoyed bringing her friend Carson with her on Thursday night! Here are a few pics of the week!

We spent Mother's Day with some of my family in Whitesboro. It had been a rainy week and everything was so beautiful at my aunt & uncle's house. Their pond was overflowing and had made kind of a waterfall that made so much noise! It was pretty cool to see.

Possum Kingdom & Mitchell RV Resort Weekend

I just wanted to share a few pictures from our recent trip to Possum Kingdom Lake and Mitchell RV Park in Perrin, Tx. We had a great time, although Sidney broke her arm the morning after we arrived! She was playing on an old VW Bug and slid off the roof toward the back window in which she caught herself with her right arm. She was such a trooper! Her Grandy and I didn't even think anything was wrong with her arm, just a little sore from the fall, but Daddy had a little more sympathy and we ended up taking her to Palo Pinto General Hospital where the x-ray revealed she did indeed have two broken bones! I did apologize to her and she forgave me! I really thought there would have been more evidence of a break, however they say there usually isn't with a broken bone. News to me!!

Easter 2009

We had a very nice Easter this year. This is the first time I think, ever, that we celebrated on Saturday! Unfortunately we spent it with few relatives this year, but those who were here made it a special day! I did terribly miss, Granny, Frank & Carla & Family, and Gail & Jimmie & Family! : ( We did have two new additions to our Easter Celebration, Miss Morgan & Miss Madeline! Two beautiful little ladies if I do say so myself!

I know Sidney had fun with them. Her best cousin Owen was a little jealous I think. Sidney had a new distraction this year! : ) She loves baby Morgan! (another girl... finally!)

It was so nice to come home Sunday after an AWESOME worship service and just REST! We ate our Easter leftovers and hung out on the couches resting or playing Wii.

We went camping at Hickory Creek this past weekend with the Masey Sunday School Class. We had such beautiful weather and great company! Many thanks to Mrs. Figart for putting everything together for us and to The Masey's for letting us borrow their cozy camper! We had a blast!

We all spent time riding bikes, visiting, eating at the wonderful potluck Saturday evening, and watching a movie under the pavilion to wrap things up Saturday. God truly blessed us on the camping trip!

Valentine's Day

We had a GREAT Valentine's Day! We started off with another super-exciting Upwards basketball game! Sidney's team is doing so awesome and she has become quite the "little dribbler"! She has so much fun and never seems to wear out! I wish I had her energy! (I started a new exercise program, so maybe soon!)

After the game we came home for a restful afternoon. The kids opened their Valentine's Day gifts and they played Wii with Daddy for most of the afternoon. Papaw & Grandy came and got the kids at about 4:00 and Scott and I went to the movies and saw "He's Just Not That Into You". Total rip-off! Yes it had great actors and the story line was kind of cute, but, It was PG-13 and probably should've been rated R. We were a little uncomfortable in a couple of the scenes. I guess I will have to start checking the review on all movies before we go! I usually do check on the movies we take the kids to, but not for us. However, a great site is:

After the movie we came back and made our own great dinner! Scott grilled t-bones and I made salad and his favorite, garlic mashed potatoes! I also made chocolate covered strawberries for dessert! Yummy! If you haven't had a night at home with your significant other, I highly reccommend it! : ) I set the table real pretty with our wedding china (hardly ever used), crystal candle holders, and the BEAUTIFUL roses Scott got for me. By the way, the last time he got me roses like this was in 1999, about 15 days after we met, on Valentines!! (Side note: this is fine with me, because I personally think flowers are not worth the money, all the time...He knows that too.)

I'm looking forward to more special Valentine's Days (and others) with my sweet and precious husband! He's the BEST!

Sidney lost her 5th tooth last night, I guess I should actually say that Daddy pulled it out with the pliers again! She cracks me up how brave she is about pulling teeth. I remember letting mine hang on by a thread until it just fell out on its own. The tooth fairy came to visit and brought Sidney 4 quarters. She wants it exchanged for a dollar!

Not only has she seemed to be losing teeth left and right, (and her other top tooth is loose right now) we visited the dentist this week and found out after her X-rays that Sidney is missing two permanent teeth, the 2nd pre-molars on bottom! I was totally shocked, because of course I want my babies mouth to be perfect! She will just have to keep her baby teeth for a while. I'll be saving $2!

Hot Dog Roast & Hayride

After the Peanut Festival last Saturday we spent the evening at my Aunt Gail & Uncle Jimmie's farm. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows in the fire pit and then took a hayride. Unfortunately my memory card in the camera was at home in my computer!! I didn't get to take enough pictures but my wonderful sister-in-law sent me some that they took.

The kids got to ride on the four-wheelers around the pond. They had so much fun!

The kids would rather ride in the tractor than on the trailer in the hay! Bascially they gave all the adults a ride! Be sure and ask them about the cows and VENDICATOR that chased us in the trailer!

Whitesboro Peanut Festival

We spent last Saturday at the Whitesboro Peanut Festival. The kids had a great time riding some carnival rides (eeeek!) and visting with their cousins! I had fun seeing some people I hadn't seen in a while and checking out all the booths.

There's nothing like free cotton candy from the church I grew up in! The kids LOVED that!

GG & Madeline, the newest addition to GG's great-grandchildren. We are so lucky that my Uncle Dayton lives really close to Main St. It gives us a great place to go sit on the porch and enjoy lunch and visit with the people passing by. Lot's of friends stopped by for a visit and a rest.

I got to spend some time with my cousins Sonya & Rhonda. They were basically like sisters to me growing up! I don't get to see enough of them now! They are sisters and Rhonda and I are the same age.

I spent this past weekend at a "Loving Well" retreat put on by the Women's Ministry Team of our church. It was and AWESOME and very fun weekend! When I came home Saturday night I was welcomed by two happy kids and a clean house thanks to my wonderful right hand man! I am so blessed to be apart of my family! I wanted to share a picture of the sign Sidney made for me that Scott hung up. He was spelling it out for her and after "wel" Sidney asked what came next and "see" is what Daddy told her!

And to those of you I told I was dreading to come home to a messy house because I knew it was going to be a busy week... I did apologize to Scott!

Trip to Gran's

I'm a little late getting this posted, but better late than never! We had a wonderful time at Gran's last week. When we got there we ended up going to visit her cousin in Houston which led to lot's of fun things to do on top of getting to go to Gran's house!! Our first evening in Houston we went to Papadeaux's and the Kemah Boardwalk. The kids chose two rides each and Scott and I even rode the "Aviator"! We went to Galveston for the 2nd day and spent the early afternoon at the beach and Rainforst Cafe and the evevning riding the ferry and visiting La King's Confectionary. Talk about a kid in a candy store! They make homemade taffy there, have a soda fountain and tons of delectable candy and old time treats to choose from! The kids loved it! Our third day back in Houston we spent the afternoon at the mall and went sightseeing. We went to see the San Jacinto Monument and Battleship Texas. We didn't get to go inside them but hopefully we'll make time for that on another trip! We rode the lightrail system and walked around downtown. Sue & Tom, if you read this, thanks for a wonderful time!

Once we got back to Gran's we had a relaxing time! We spent some quality time hanging out and enjoying nature. You never know what kind of animal you may see at Gran's! I got to make a platter out of clay and the kids got to mess around in the art studio too! Gran is so good to these kids! (& us!) I can't wait to see how the platter turns out after it's been through the kiln!

1st Day of 1st Grade

My baby is in the first grade as of today! She was rather reluctant about getting started again, but after she met her teacher and saw her classroom last night she was pumped! She didn't want to leave last night after meeting her new teacher who made a very good first impression!! Yeah! When she woke up this morning she was so excited and ready to go... NOW!

I picked her up today and she was still super excited. She can't wait to go back tomorrow. Of course her teacher has all kinds of exciting things planned for them! Sidney especially likes her desk because it has a compartment to put her own things and they don't have to share supplies this year. Her teacher told her sometimes she would be visited by the desk fairy. It doesn't take much to get her excited!

We had our first ever homework tonight. We got to study spelling words with two bonus words: flat & that. It will be intersting to move forward! This is just the beginning!!! eeek!

Memories

I can't help but think of Barbara Streisand's song "The Way We Were" as I post this blog, however, I really thought the title was "Memories". The song I'm sure has something to do with a past "love", but not the kind of memories I love! While I visited with my granny a couple of weeks ago, we went driving through town, like we usually do. We went by the cemetary to see where her niece was buried, to see if the headstone had been placed. She led me by where she lived once as a child, which I was surprised at the location, because she had never shown me before. After leaving that location we happened upon Tot Lot Park! I was so excited to see it that we had to stop and let the kids get out and play where mommy once played as a child and had school Easter egg hunts, not "Spring" egg hunts! We would walk over a mile to the park to have our sack lunch and hunt Easter eggs. It's so funny how times have changed. We never thought twice about sliding down the super hot metal slides or spinning so fast on the merry go round that we dare not let go unless we wanted to go flying off!! And don't forget the teeter totter! You know at one time you probably jumped off so the other person would go down so fast and hit the ground that it would rattle their brain! Memories!! How I love them!

Hot Springs, Arkansas

We visited Hot Springs last Monday the 28th of July through Friday, Aug 1st with my parents. We had a really nice and relaxing time. We visited Bath House Row in downtown Hot Springs, spent a day on Lake Hamilton via a pontoon boat we rented, visited the Mid American Science Museum, and stopped by the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro on the way home.

We took a tour of the Fordyce Bath House which is the visitor center in Hot Springs. It is a beautiful 3 story building. The history of bath houses, the actual "hot springs", and services provided by the bath houses are detailed here.

Mid America Science Museum Entrance

The kids had a lot of neat hands on stuff to do at this museum. We got to crawl through an obstacle course cave that was rather difficult since it was intended for kids and Sidney was freaking out! Most of it was in the dark and there were black lights. Even though all of us were with her she was so scared. Jackson thought it was cool though.

We got to "experience the power of caged lightning"! 1.5 million volts! It was rather interesting! Very loud!!

We went to the Grossology Exhibit where we got to learn about the "Impolite Science of the Human Body." It was pretty funny. The kids loved hearing all the burping, tooting, and vomiting sounds! Some of it was rather disgusting, yet interesting.

Scott got to drink from a toilet! It was so funny! Kids that walked up to this thing WOULD NOT drink out of it. They looked at it like "what in the world?!"

The kids liked touching these things. If you kept your hand on it for a little while and then touched someone at the same time you could shock them!

An actual hot spring. The water is approximately 140 degrees! If it rained today, they said the water would not come out of the springs for another 4000 years!

It would have been neat to find a diamond at the Crater of Diamonds State Park, but I wasn't very optimistic. Scott however would've spent more time trying if it weren't for me and the kids being tired and HOT!

Dentures, Some Kids Have'm Young

Does anyone have any advice for Jackson on keeping his dentures in his mouth and not hangin' out on the bathroom counter? He also has a very hard time getting his clean. Soak'n them in just water doesn't seem to do the trick for him. Do you recommend any products? I guess I need to get him a container with a cover and stop using the cheap dixie cups.

Visit to Denton Fire Station #1

Today the kids and I went to visit the Denton Fire Station #1 & Museum. Last night we passed by a fire station in North Denton and Jackson and Sidney got on the subject of fire stations and fire fighters and I seemed to recall that there was a museum in Denton now, so I thought they'd enjoy the trip. It is located at 332 E. Hickory St. at Bell Ave. It is a small museum and but full of all kinds of interesting memorabilia. If you ask, you can even get a tour of the station itself, the fire trucks, hazmat truck, and ambulance. Jarrett, one of the fire fighters on duty led our tour. He was very informative and friendly! (For you ladies out there who think fire fighters are "hot", he was that too! No offense Scott!)

The Ambulance-We weren't allowed to go in it because they have to keep it clean and sterile.

Jarrett showed the kids all the tools and hoses on the fire trucks and explained to the kids how they worked and what they were for. This is Halligan tool used for prying open doors, breaking glass, etc... Jackson thought it was cool that the fire fighters got to tear things up with the tools!

Morgan Elizabeth

I am a new aunt today to Morgan Elizabeth! She was born this morning at 3:18 a.m! She weighed 9 lbs. 4 oz. and was 20 in. long. She is so cute!! We're excited to have a new little girl in the family. We visited her at the hospital tonight and Sidney and Jackson both got their turn to love and hug on her! We also got to see how much her new brothers are welcoming her with lots of love!

Jackson's cardiologist appointment was today. They found a small hole in his heart. It is less than 1 mm. This is called Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). He will just need to take antibiotics before dental appointments and watch out for in-grown toenails?! I guess those can apparently cause a lot of damage?! The doctor said the hole would probably close on it's own by the time he is 13 and he can do all normal activities, football, etc... He will be seen again at the end of the year and annually for monitoring. Anyway, I attached a little more info from the American Heart Association website if you are interested in learning more.

What It Is
The septum is a wall that separates the heart's left and right sides. Septal defects are sometimes called a "hole" in the heart. A defect between the heart's two lower chambers (the ventricles) is called a ventricular septal defect (VSD).
When there is a large opening between the ventricles, a large amount of oxygen-rich (red) blood from the heart's left side is forced through the defect into the right side. Then it's pumped back to the lungs, even though it's already been refreshed with oxygen. This is inefficient, because already-oxygenated blood displaces blood that needs oxygen. This means the heart, which must pump more blood, may enlarge from the added work. High blood pressure may occur in the lungs' blood vessels because more blood is there. Over time, this increased pulmonary hypertension may permanently damage the blood vessel walls.

If the opening between the ventricles is small, it doesn't strain the heart. In that case, the only abnormal finding is a loud murmur.

Problems You May Have
Most people whose uncomplicated ventricular septal defects are repaired early in life don't have any significant long-term problems. In some people, the heart muscle may be less able to contract. This requires diuretics, agents to help the heart pump better and drugs to control blood pressure. Also, if pulmonary hypertension develops (it's uncommon), you may need more medical therapy.

We went to Grapevine to celebrate my brother's birthday yesterday. My dad took a picture of our family before we left. It's not very often we take a personal shot where everyone looks "normal", whatever that is!!

Memories of a Spectacular 4th of July

Scott and I started dating in January of 1999. After dating for that year I was really hoping that Christmas would be a time for proposal! Apparently that was not God's or Scott's plan so I just knew it would happen in February. A Valentines proposal couldn't have possibly been more romantic! So I hoped, but that holiday passed as well. NO such luck! To say the least the next four months passed slowly and I was always wondering, "When???" I was 25 years OLD!

The 4th of July weekend, 2000, we packed up and went to visit Scott's mother in Temple, Texas. My mom and dad even met Barbara, Scott, and I in Salado on the 4th to antique shop and have lunch. After lunch we visited with Scott's grandmother, aunt and uncle. That night we went to the 4th of July fireworks show at Miller Park in Temple with 10,000 other people including Barbara and her friend Pruitt. We took our lawn chairs and sat out on the lawn with Barbara and Pruitt. Barbara was taking tons of photos of us and the fireworks were awesome! The grand finale began and all of a sudden Scott got down on one knee beside my chair and pulled out the ring!! I immediately began balling my eyes out! I was so shocked! I never expected it because I thought it would be a private setting! It might as well have been because everything else didn't matter at this wonderful moment in my life! I seriously don't even remember if other people around us knew what was going on or not! Except Barbara, who was still taking photos; now I know why she was so photo happy that night! It was really nice having photos of that moment. Most people probably don't have photos of an actual engagement taking place.

We went back to Barbara's house that night and I got on the phone immediately to tell the people closest to me the great news! It was late, but I knew they were probably coming in for fireworks too! Thank you Amy & Daniel, Judy & Alan, Mark & Dessy for sharing in our joy that night!! I tried to call my mom and dad and Granny but none of them were home!! Little did I know that Scott had asked my dad for my hand in marriage that day in Salado! I think he was surprised too! He told Scott he hoped he was sure because he didn't want me back! Thanks a lot daddy!

Leave it to my creative new mother-in-law to have a little ceremony ready for us that night to celebrate. We got dressed up and she had candles going and champagne for us. She gave Scott a crystal which represented all colors of life and he wore the only sunflower that bloomed that day on the lapel of his tuxedo jacket. She gave me a rose quartz which represented eternal love, she put white flowers in my hair that represented purity and pure love, a black shawl for protection against any negativity, and a strand of white pearls, a symbol of purity as well. Barbara gave her blessing for a long, happy, and loving marriage. We had so much fun!

Say a little prayer for Jackson. He had his well check-up this week and his doctor referred him to a cardiologist. She thinks it sounds like he has a heart murmur, but she also said it could just be a venous hum.

Definition according to wikipedia:

Venous hum is a benign medical condition where 20% of the blood flow travels to the brain and back to the heart. Due to the large amount of blood it can move quite fast causing the vein walls to vibrate which can create a humming noise to be heard by the patient.

The doctor said it was not a big concern but something she wanted to have checked out. Jackson's appointment has been made so we will find out more news next week!

Jackson's Birthday!

We celebrated Jackson's birthday last Saturday with a bounce house party with some of his friends from church and cousins. His actual birthday was Monday the 30th.

His birthday party theme was "Wall-e". We went and saw the movie Friday night and it was so cute!

VBS POWER LAB

We had VBS this week at our church! The theme was POWER LAB! The kids had so much fun and enjoyed all the great music and Power Lab activities! Each night the families who helped had dinner together. Here is a picture of Sidney and her friends.

Professor Storms & Professor Storms led music and skits each night. The kids loved seeing their ministers all dressed up and acting silly!

Swimming Lessons

The kids started swimming lessons this week with their friend Carson! Sidney is doing a GREAT job and Jackson is still a little nervous about it all! We asked him last night why he was skipping his turns and he said because he was afraid. He knows mommy has taught him that he has to wear a life jacket when he can't touch so we had to explain to him that the teacher is not going to let him go! We'll see how today goes!

By the way, I can't believe it's been 1 YEAR since I started this blog! My how time flies!

Father's Day at the Waterpark

We spent father's day at the waterpark with my parents and my brother and his family! It was a fun day! The kids enjoy spending time with their cousins!
